Description
Photograph of an outdoor oven on Ninth St. near the river, 1889. The dome-shaped oven is made of bricks and is sheltered by a crude awning made from wooden posts covered with tree bark or leather(?). There are three large pieces of the same material resting on top of the oven and held in place by a large rock attached to a rope. In front of the oven, there is a shelf supported by a tin basin, and on the ground are what appear to be many corn husks. There is a cast-iron barrel to the right of the oven, and further to the right is a single leafless tree. In the background and across a grassy field, there is a single-story house. Picture file card reads "G.G. Johnson".
