Description
A family returns from the Shinto shrine of Kanda Myojin where they have received blessings for their children, including the baby wrapped in a purple cloak decorated with auspicious symbols. The young boy carries a packet of "1000 year candy" / chitose ame, which are long sticks of sweet rice candy thought to bring long life. Behind him the father has a load of inu hariko, brightly painted papier mache dogs that are supposed to protect children from harm.
