Description
Exterior view of the "River of Life" doorway of the San Buenaventura Mission in Ventura. It is said to be the best of all the missions and is studded with hand-wraught ornaments and handles. The surrounding design is said to represent the Native Americans' idea of the location of the mission, the cross representing the mission itself. These are the original doors with inset patches where the wood has been eaten away.
