From Los Angeles, sightseers took a Pasadena car to Altadena and Rubio Canyon, transferred to the cable car on the incline, went up 62% grade to Echo Mountain, and then took a narrow-gauge trolley car to Alpine Tavern on Mt. Lowe. Despite the spectacular nature of the run, not a single accident was recorded.
