Description
Photograph of the Hill House, a prominent Queen Anne Victorian on Church Street in Lodi, ca.1905. The witch's capped turret surmounts a wrap-around porch. Cresting decorates the rooflines. The roof is pierced by two brick chimneys. The upper story of this two story home is decorated with bandsawn fish scale shingles. Turned columns support the porch roof, spanned by turned spindle decorations. The balustrade is band sawn with small, turned spindles echoing the decorative element at the porch's roofline. The gable ends are decorated with a bas relief pediment. The house still stands on Church Street and is under the supervision of the Lodi Historical Society.
