Description
Photograph of oil wells near Summerland, California, 1930. A large number of oil derricks can be seen set up along the Pacific Ocean coastline, on the beach. Some of the oil derricks can be seen in the ocean water, connected in rows by long support structures. A railroad track can be seen in the foreground, extending along the coast next to the beach. Stacks of railroad track planks can be seen in the foreground, to the right of the railroad track. Steam can be seen rising from derricks in the left background. In the distance, the coastal land visibly curves to the right. Compares to CHS-2229.
