Description
Women’s Approach to Community Harmony (WATCH) formed in 1963 as a fact-finding organization in North Highlands, a community north of Sacramento. Its express purpose was to familiarize community members with the pros and cons of controversial community issues. The group invited candidates for local office to deliver their platforms, and they hosted talks and debates on a variety of concerns, from the installation of a golf course to the rise in venereal disease among local teens.
