Photograph caption dated February 26, 1962 reads, "Susan Binder, 4, Northridge, is one of preschool tots being screened for gross visual defects in Mid-Valley Council PTA's Preschool Vision Screening Program scheduled Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 17251 Sherman Way, Van Nuys. Training session for volunteers in the Thirty-first District PTA sponsored vision screening project was directed by Mrs. Burnetta Downing, executive director of the California Society for the Prevention of Blindness, left. Mrs. Laurence Gay, right, is project chairman for Mid-Valley Council."
