Bust-length portrait surrounded by images of buildings. Buildings include: California Theatre, Pacific Rolling Mills, Mission Wollen Mills, Cornell Watch Co., West Coast Furniture Co., Bank of California, Kimball Manufacturing Company, Gold Hill, Cal. Silk Factory, Palace Hotel.

Born in Ohio in 1826. Worked as ship-carpenter building steamboats. Arrived in Acalifornia in 1850 via Panama. Became agent for Garrison & Morgan, line of steamships. Eventually went into banking, became President of Bank of California. Died in 1875.
