Description
The Mark Taper Forum, second unit of the three-unit Music Center complex, is on its way to completion on January 4, 1966, with its upper surface being covered with an 8640 square foot mural of precast terrazzo. The mural is comprised of 72 individual strips, 6 feet long. The outside of the handsome circular structure is scheduled to be finished within two weeks, according to project superintendent Fred Lowell of Peter Kiewit Sons Co., contractors for the center. The Forum will be joined as a unit by a graceful 48 foot high colonnade to the almost square Ahmanson Theatre, renamed last week for principal donor Howard Ahmanson. The Pavilion was also renamed last week for Mrs. Dorothy Buffum Chandler, who spearheaded the drive to build the Music Center.
