Title supplied by cataloger. Designed by F. P. Burnham, this Classical Revival library building cost $34,000 to construct in 1908. An initial grant for $12,500 from Andrew Carnegie was later increased to $30,000, covering the majority of the expense. This building served as the city's public library from 1909 until 1972, when a fire forced its closure. It was demolished a year later.; The Willmore Building, Long Beach Historic Landmark 16.52.260, was built in 1925. From its completion until 1952 it was a residential hotel, eleven stories in height. The L-shaped tower contains traditional hotel rooms, one- and two-room apartments with kitchens, and a tenth-floor luxury penthouse. On the ground floor there is a large lobby; the solarium occupies the eleventh floor. The Willmore became an own-your-own building in 1952. The Willmore is a good representation of Italian Renaissance palace style and an example of a luxury residential hotel in Long Beach of the 1920's. People stroll through the park towards the library or rest on benches in this view of Lincoln Park, located at Ocean and Pacific in Long Beach. The site of the original plaza in Long Beach, Lincoln Park was renamed from Pacific Park in 1920. Early model cars are parked on Ocean Avenue next to the park and a trolley car runs on tracks in the middle of the street. Across from the park is Hotel Yale. In the background, center, is the Willmore Hotel and in the park, obscured by trees, is the Carnegie Library.
