Description: William Hertrich, wearing a suit and bow tie, stands at the entrance gate to the Japanese garden. There is a lion-dog statue on either side of the double doors, and the wisteria pergola is visible through the open gate. William Hertrich was Superintendent of Botanical from 1927 to 1949. On verso: William Hertrich at entrance to Japenese Garden, March 1962.
