Inscription on a tree at Tragedy Springs, Amador County, California. "To the memory of Daniel Brouett, Ezrah H. Allen and Henderson Cox, who was supposed to have been murdered and buried by indians on the night of the 27 of June 1848." Annotation on image, "On way to Silver Lake, Alpine Hiway."
