V1p138b In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 138 bottom. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." "55" printed on photo. Text written under photo: "Jewish Synagoug [sic] Sutter St. bet. Powell & Mason 1880. The fire of 1906 destroyed the two domes. They were rebuilt much lower." Written to right of photo: "See picture opposite page reconstructed" with arrow pointing to appropriate photo. View is of Temple Emanu-El on north side of Sutter between Powell and Stockton, not Mason. Churchlike building with two spires surmounted by domes. Child standing in front of fence.
