Photograph of a military unit marching in San Diego's July Fourth parade on Fifth Street, July 4, 1903. The soldiers are arrayed in three ranks that span from left to right in the foreground and all are in dark uniforms with rifles over their shoulders. The far side of the street is lined with onlookers who are crowded between the parade and the tall wooden buildings that border the street behind them. A line of utility poles runs along the street near the audience. Picture file card reads "N on 5th St., in 1' ground 'C'". Legible signs include, from left to right, "Visit Sam G. Ingle's Big Hardware Store Builders Hardware Tools Cutlery BC Hardwood Metals Stoves", "Golden Mine Market", and "Perfection Grocery".
