The building at 230 East 1st Street was constructed in 1910. The two upper floors were removed in 1985, which at the time housed banquet rooms and a kitchen.
Exterior view of the S.K. Uyeda Department Store located at 230 East 1st. Street in Little Tokyo. The awning hanging out in front advertises ""Jockey underwear, yardage, Manhattan shirts,"" and a vertical sign advertises ""chop suey."" The Oregon Hotel, at 226 East First Street is partially visible next door.
