Photograph caption dated July 23, 1964 reads, "Can I keep it? Clay Elmquist, 6, Monterey Park, isn't even half as high as an elephant's eye, but he and the creature became instant friends. Clay and some 200 other people were on hand to see the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus unload this morning in Los Angeles. The show's on for 14 days at Sports Arena."
