Photograph caption dated October 4, 1956 reads, "Lewis Steele, resident engineer of construction on Hollywood Freeway extension through North Hollywood, checks rapid progress of work. City has been asked to appropriate $500,000 to expedite improvement of streets adjacent to extension so streets may be widened by time freeway is completed."
