Description
The top section, or mouth (Ncaus nyas), of a baby carrier (Daim Nyias, Dlaim Hlaab Nyas). Pattern shown includes a diamond or pumpkin flower (paj taub) motif in an L-shaped corner. A red pom-pom (visible at right) is centered inside a box with red and white borders. The white stitching around the pumpkin flowers may represent seeds (noob). Typed label affixed to mat board beneath photograph reads, "Detail of the top section of the baby-carrier (ncauj nyas)." Date derived from stamp on mat board verso. Notes on verso read: "HMong Baby Carrier #9 (Photo 9), Lewis Judy, *HMO.4056.00* Fall 2002 [printed label, upper left verso]; HMO. [handwritten black ink, middle verso]; L.F.C. [handwritten black ink, bottom right verso]; FEB 12 1987 [stamped red ink, bottom right verso]" Numbering on verso inconsistent with series.
