Description
Side angle shot of same image as 2003-35-68a: Lt. Paul W. Beck (1876-1922) sits next to pilot Phillip Parmelee (1887-1912), in a Wright Model B biplane before taking off for a demonstration of wireless communication between an airplane in flight and a ground operator, January 1911, Tanforan. Beck, at left, holds a radio transmitter labeled "Type A-4 Aeroplane Wireless Telegraph Set. Designed By Western Wireless Equipment Co." The airplane was outfitted with radio equipment by Earle Ennis. On reverse, "Phil Ennis' pix?"
