Description
Transcript of remarks made by members of the Dies Committee, specifically Representative Herman P. Eberharter, regarding government investigations of the War Relocation Authority and the incarceration camps. Eberharter was in support of the War Relocation Authority's administration and rebuked false claims by other members of the committee about the incarcerees.
The collection contains material used by Carey McWilliams in writing the book, Prejudice: Japanese Americans, symbol of racial intolerance (Little, Brown, 1944). It includes U.S. War Relocation Authority records, confidential reports, bibliographies, clippings and compilations of articles, legal papers, correspondence between McWilliams and Japanese American evacuees, relocation camp newspapers and other publications, two copies of his book, and five copies of the 1994 videocassette (40 min.), Something Strong Within.
