Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated December 18, 1958 reads "Herbert W. Smith, 44, takes Santa Claus' place at his gaily decorated home at 6303 Satsuma Ave., North Hollywood. Because Santa is busy getting ready at North Pole, Smith has built special train in his front yard complete with engine which emits smoke. Approximately 1,200 youngsters flocked to see exhibit over past weekend and all left with candy sticks. There are 547 lights in exhibit."
