Description
This 1960 postcard shows the Sacramento Municipal Airport at 6151 Freeport Boulevard. The complex was founded on April 12, 1930, to two days of crowds that were expected to near 100,000. The control tower in the background was added in 1956. The airport - soon to be rechristened the Executive Airport - was supplanted by the Sacramento International Airport in 1967 as the primary aerial entry point to Sacramento.
