Photograph was edited for publication purposes.
Photograph caption dated November 6, 1952 reads, "This is the shambles that remained after a gas blast ripped home to pieces at 3446 Brandon street in East Pasadena. Police say blast resulted from an attempted suicide and brought serious injury to Mrs. Anna May Potter, 37. Doctor reported to police that she told him she wished she had died, and that she had poured shellac on her clothes before turning on gas."
