2009-0098. In PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM: **F869 B15 B36,, pg. 30. In: Bakersfield : photograph album. Shows corner of Chester and 19th streets. Hochheimer & Co. store visible in center right side of street. Second Hochheimer building under construction on corner. Men stringing banners and lights above street. Men are on ladders mounted on wagons. Store is located on Chester Avenue, occupying the entire block from 19th to 20th Streets. Original company started by Amiel and Moses Hochheimer in Dixon, California, expanding to Willow, Germantown and Orland in Glenn County, and Bakersfield in 1900. Moses purchased from a Mr. Belau establishment known as Pioneer Store.
