Description
A Speakers Series at the California State Railroad Museum on March 13th and 26th, 1996. The first speaker is JoAnn Levy addressing the role of women in the Gold Rush era (1848-1854). Levy uses examples of Eliza Farnham and Mary Crocker to demonstrate varying views of life during the California Gold Rush. The second speaker, Dr. Jacqueline Reiner, addressed the evolution of women's work over the years, including family wage economies and factory work during World War II.
