Stump and log of the original big tree, 1855, from photographs. Shows stump with ladder to top and stump with figures seated atop, building on left. 2010-3782. Discovered in 1852 by Augustus T. Dowd, area became a state park in 1931 - Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
