On the left perched at the top of Poundcake Hill is Los Angeles High School, with St. Athanasius Episcopal Church (erected in 1864) and other buildings in the foreground.; The Los Angeles High School was built in 1873, with Dr. Lucky as principal. The cornerstone was laid on July 19, 1872. The cost was $19,000.
