Title supplied by cataloger.; Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph caption dated April 1922, 1938 reads "'Jackie's mother telephoned me and said: 'It won't do you any good to marry Jackie because he won't have a cent. I've told him he wouldn't have a cent if he marries you.' Betty Grable, 21-year-old bride of Jackie Coogan, is shown in their home telling secrets of their troubled courtship and marriage." Jackie Coogan had earned millions as a child actor working in silent films. However, Coogan had to battle his mother and stepfather for control of this fortune and in the end was left with only a fraction of what he had earned. His legal battle led to the enactment of the California Child Actor's Bill also known as the Coogan Law or the Coogan Act which requires 15% of what a child actor earns be put aside into a trust.
