Presidential candidates, Gustavo Anzueto Vielman of the Nationalist Authentic Center, Alejandro Maldonado of the National Renewal and Guatemalan Christian Democracy parties, Mario Sandoval of the National Liberation Movement, and Lionel Sisniega Otero, Sandoval's running mate, at a press conference as Sandoval Alarcón speaks into the microphone. The three candidates and running mate held a press conference to claim voter fraud in the 1982 elections against Ángel Aníbal Guevara. A military coup prevented Guevara from assuming power and installed a three-man junta headed by General Efraín Ríos Montt.
