Photograph also used in article dated March 13, 1961. Photograph article dated November 23, 1960 partially reads, "Californians will consume an estimated 4 million turkeys Thursday giving the state's once hard-processed turkey ranchers something for which to be thankful. And, nationally, a much greater number of turkeys will get top billing on Thanksgiving menus in homes and restaurants. It's a comparatively new trend as Americans become "turkey conscious" and one that is erasing glum expressions from the faces of a tight little corps of ranchers. Charles S. Edwards, 18601 Plummer St., Northridge, one of the last turkey ranchers in the West Valley, told the Valley Times TODAY that as recently as two years ago the turkey ranching business was a "break-even" proposition."
