California Street looking west from Sansome to the top of Nob Hill. Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. on left side of corner, Bank of California on right. Leland Stanford residence atop Nob Hill on left side of California in the distance. Old St. Mary's Church in the distance on right side (at Dupont). Horsecar of North Beach and Mission Railroad proceeding east on California. Horsecar tracks used California as far as Kearny; rails of California Street Cable Railroad Co. can be seen ascending Nob Hill beyond.
