The parade, beginning at 1st and Lorena streets and ending at Mednik Avenue, celebrates the 1810 war for Mexico's independence. An estimated 15,000 spectators lined the 1-1/2 mile route and viewed 37 floats, numerous horseback riders, several bands, Assemblyman Art Torres, Mayor Tom Bradley, and comedian Mario Moreno Cantinflas.
