Description
1989-1252. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 28. Corner of a street with a small "convenience shack" on the corner, advertising "Ice" and "CocaCola"; a model T is parked on its right side; behind the shack is a large leafy tree; on each side of the shack are two homes; the house to the right is three story;in photo first floor is hidden behind shubbery; second floor has windows on front and side and a third floor window is nestled in center of the overhanging roof; on extreme right of the photo a car is parked diagonally toward the edge of the photo. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Old home in center of picture, home of N.D. Goodell, architect.in 1881. He erected the Governor's Mansion, 16th & H street."
