Description
James Haspiel discusses his book, “Young Marilyn.” He begins by explaining how he met Marilyn Monroe when he was 16 and became one of her closest friends for 10 years. He talks about becoming an archivist for a collection of Monroe’s papers and photographs. He discusses her unique speech pattern, and how she changed her appearance in between studio contracts. He tells an anecdote about how Joe DiMaggio introduced him and Monroe in a hotel. He describes that this book does not contain any of his own personal photography, but is a collection of photographs he gathered from her younger years. He ends the interview by talking about how none of these photographs are edited and the majority of them are candid.
