Exterior view of the Hugo Reid adobe, seen across the lake at the Santa Anita Ranch in Arcadia, later owned by E. J. "Lucky" Baldwin. The adobe was constructed in 1840 with the help of Gabrielino laborers and built of sun-dried adobe blocks made by mixing clay soil, water and a straw binder. The adobe is designated California Historical Landmark No. 368. The ranch was owned by E. J. "Lucky" Baldwin from 1875 to 1909.
