Description
Photograph of a panoramic view of earth-moving equipment and workers at Ramparts Heights, ca.1905. Scores of men are shown on this tract lot between 3rd Street and Beverly Boulevard dispersed along a cleared dirt plot of land, many of whom are tending to horse-drawn carts that have been adapted for moving soil. In the foreground, men in suits sit in three topless automobiles, two surveyors to their right at center. What appears to be a mansion can be seen in the far left background, while more clustered residential housing is apparent at center. To the far right, a large tractor-like machine can be seen, a collection of two horseless carriages hitched together. In the background behind them, trees are evident.
