Description
"San Jose, Calif. -- Fireman looks over wreckage and a flame-seared truck at the Permanente Magnesium Plant, San Jose, Calif., where an explosion killed Gene Bayne, 23, chemist; Jean Targhetta, 32, assistant, and injured two laboratory workers when the four workers were mixing explosives. The explosion rocked nearby buildings but did not damage the main plant a quarter of a mile away." San Francisco Bureau
