Doctor Mergner, nurse Jenny von Stebut and two African male nurses are standing near a patient. Friedrich Mergner (1905-1987), from Segnitz, served the Leipzig Mission as a doctor. From 1932 to 1937 he led the mission hospital in Machame with his wife Friederike Mergner. Jenny von Stebut (1899-1998), from Lithuania, joined the Leipzig Mission as a nurse in 1930. She worked in hospitals in Mamba and Machame from 1931 till the outbreak of the Second World War. From 1952 to 1962 she served again in Nkoaranga.
