Photograph was edited for publication purposes The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated March 4, 1948 reads "Milky Way Prince Aster III, shown with Dwight Holford, student, will be foundation herd sire for purebred Hereford herd at Clarence W. Pierce Junior College. The young bull and several purebred Hereford heifers were purchased from herds in the West by Sears Roebuck Foundation."
