Mrs. Andrew Johnson and Frank Goldstein, members of the Ann Land Memorial Commission, placed a wreath at the East Lawn Cemetery tomb of William Land, who died December 30, 1911. William Land left $200,000 in his will as a permanent fund for the relief of indigents of the city. A hotel owner and philanthropist, William Land Park in Sacramento is named for him.
