Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated January 25, 1963 partially reads, "A 48-year-old North Hollywood construction worker was reported in good condition today after being trapped for more than an hour Thursday in the wreckage of an earth-moving vehicle. Harry Smalley, 48, 6461 Whitsett Ave., was pinned in the cab of the giant machine when it tumbled down a 12-foot embankment where the Golden State Freeway is under construction near Sepulveda Blvd. and Roxford St., Sylmar. Smalley, a former North Hollywood police officer, was driving the heavy grader near the edge of the raised freeway foundation mound when some dirt slipped and the machine toppled over the edge, police said."
