Description
Key Words: Pomona College; Housing in Claremont Harry Hitchcock was born in Nebraska, and he moved to Claremont with his family in 1893. His father, George Hitchcock, was a professor of physics and chemistry at Pomona College. Hitchcock shared photographs from early California with the interviewers. He describes several of the early homes in Claremont, and the families who lived in them. He earned a science degree at Pomona College and became an engineer. He served as a consultant for the U.S. Army and NATO. He later became a city councilmember and mayor of San Marino.
