Description
Autograph letter, signed by La Luzerne, to Destouches, stating his receipt of Destouches' letter to him written 10 months earlier, notifying him that M. Barras has taken command of the ship Esead which Destouches had commanded with sensitivity and distinction. La Luzerne expresses his wish that the inhabitants of the 13 United States always keep Destouches' efforts in their favor. The letter is dated at head: Philadelphia, 18 May 1781. Verso is blank.
