Photograph article dated December 14, 1960 partially reads, "The question of whether sororities and fraternities are a good or bad influence on college campuses has been debated for over 100 years. Each time another institution of higher learning takes a stand, either to allow them or to declare them illegal, the pros and cons are raised and the issue rehashed. Valley State College will make the swing beginning September, 1961, when local sororities and fraternities will be allowed to affiliate with national Greek organizations... Mrs. Malvin Walden, president of San Fernando Valley Panhellenic Association, pointed out the following as the four basic functions of her group: 1. To give scholarship funds. 2. To acquaint high school seniors and their mothers with sorority life. 3. To maintain an information file on prospective ruses. 4. To engage in community philanthropy projects." Pictured is Mrs. Malvin Walden.
