Marine Day was an annual event held at Burbank's Golden Mall in the late 60s and early 70s. Each year, several hundred Marines from Camp Pendleton were invited to a public celebration at the Mall. The event was followed by a trip to Disneyland in which the Marines were accompanied by teen hostesses from local high schools. This photo was taken at the first Marine Day, held March 23, 1968. Shops visible in the photo include Killeen Music, Boren's Fabrics, Burcal, Security First National Bank, Pep Boys, Sav-on Drugs, Mildred's Baby Shop, Howard's Jewelers, Heidelberg Haus, Reeve's Shoes, and Kay Jewelers.
