Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated January 6, 1948 reads, "Stripped of the service ribbons, bars and uniforms he wore to 'impress his girl friend,' Donald Buell, 18, a stock clerk and former student of Burbank High School, awaited federal action today on his three months pose as a Naval officer. Buell recently was investigated by FBI agents in Burbank, acting on citizens' reports that he appeared at civic functions in the guise of a war hero. He was arrested at his home, 224 E. Valencia ave., Burbank, last night on federal charges of impersonating an officer. The youth admitted, police reported, that he had attempted to appear as a Navy hero in order to impress his seventeen-year-old girl."
