Description
Photograph of two houses on the winder cattle pasture of Mission San Luis Rey, ca.1900. Two one-story adobes can be seen at angles to one another in the center of the photograph. The foremost adobe is shown in three-quarters profile, a doorway with no door is visible to the right, and a window on the perpendicular wall to the left. Behind this, the second, longer adobe is visible, its roof missing some of the wooden shingles that cover both cabins. A doorway is visible flanked by a window to either side on the front wall of the building. Tall grass surrounds the adobes. Hills are visible in the background, along with a tall, narrow tree. Picture file card reads "9 miles from mission. Gopher Canyon bet[sic]. Monserratt and San Luis Rey where Mayordoma and Vaqueros stayed".
