Photograph caption dated September 17, 1954 reads, "Ground-breaking for what will be San Fernando's Valley's largest Safeway market at 11641 Victory Blvd. is handled prettily by North Hollywood Mayor Elyse Knox, assisted by, left to right, Lee Cameron, vice president of Chamber of Commerce; John P. Jamison, engineer; William Bolesworth, Safeway's public relations counselor, and S. F. Christensen, Valley district manager for Safeway. Store will be chain's largest in Valley and will open in mid-November."
