Description
“James L. Lawrie and nurse, ‘Katenea’ - Aneityum, 1892.” Portrait of James Hay, and Margaret, Lawrie's son standing by his nurse. She is wearing a striped tunic and skirt and is holding the boy’s hand. Lawrie was a Presbyterian missionary from Edinburgh and based on Aneityum, New Hebrides [Vanuatu], from 1879-1896. Later he was minister of several charges in New South Wales. They had four children. Margaret died in 1922 and her husband in 1929.
